Neverland’s fairies, wild Indians, pirates and mermaids stand in opposition to the conservative middle-class life of Mr Darling and his family. Or does it? Even after escaping the confines of her middle England existence, Wendy sets to work in Neverland mending the boy’s socks and making their beds, whilst back home a turn of fortunes makes Mr Darling into a celebrity inhabiting a dog kennel. Our production of Peter Pan is about choices. There is no right or wrong, there is merely a choice to be made between two different life plans. The main element on stage design is a 3.2m x 8m transluscent mirror suspended at 45 degrees below the ceiling of the theatre. Through reflection and optical trickery, characters and objects on stage can change their orientation to either exist on the stage floor or appear as their own reflection up high above the audience.
